Sad to report that Sherman Hemsley, who was best known as Gerorge Jefferson on the hit TV show the Jeffersons has died. He was 74 years old.

I did a tribute video to the late Sherman Hemsley. He'll be missed.

He lived here in El Paso, ironically, on the east side of town. Every now and again, I would see him when he would leave his car in for repairs. Some of the times, people would come up to him and ask if he was Mr. Jefferson from the Jeffersons. He didn't like it when people called him Mr. Jefferson and would kindly correct them, "Mr Jefferson was my show name, my real name is Sherman Helmsley". He always had a smile on his face and would make everyone laugh. I wish I had taken a picture with him. He was a great man and will be missed.
