I'm at a pal's place in Peru. He's got directv from Argentina (there's no service in Peru).

The cowboy installer set the password and blocked channels.

My pal doesn't know the pw and it's not 0000

The phone line won't work in this because it only works in Argentina like this, not Peru.

Is there any other way to reset the password or unblock channels?

It appears to be an RCA model is dxd426rd, which is a 420RE in the states, I think.

Any ideas other than taking it back to Argentina?

Just tried 8888 and it didn't work. I think a reset is the only option. I'm guessing that's at the level of the card and not the reciever, right?

You may have to call directv.

Directv can reset the passward via satellite. i think.
