Replacing the 622 -- Moving Recordings

I figure I know the answer, but I thought it might be worth asking.

I've got a defective 622 (Reboot Problem). Dish is sending me a new receiver (went ahead and got a 722). Is there any way Dish would allow me a one time use of an external hard drive to move recordings from 622->HD->722, or am I stuck paying the activation fee.

I guess it's not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, but I don't really have a need for the external hard drive feature at this time other than wanting to move the recordings to the new receiver.

Also, I haven't really looked at the external hard drive option, but is it relatively straightforward to do what I'm wanting to do? I guess I will use one of the three or four receiver moves even though I'm replacing a receiver?

You are probably stuck paying the fee, Of course you can continue to use the hard drive in the future.

Exactly. Pay the fee, and you can save your stuff, and seriously increase your storage space.
