Remote Control Question

Received a new Fortec Mercury II system today. Just getting around to playing with it. Either the remote doesn't work, or the box isn't responding to it. I made sure it had good batteries.
Will the remote for a Visionsat IV200 work with the Merc II or not? If so how do I get it to work?

at least in my experience, Human Error....!

most remotes have a line of buttons (usually 4 in a row)
such as: TV, VCR, DVD, AUX, STB, TV/RAD, TV/SAT, ect.., etc...
STB is the one you want to use.....
my fat fingers are notorious at accidentally hitting a wrong button and causing the receiver to not work. panic, fear, and an untimely amount of stress occurs before I realize my misfortune
but, it's always a relief to find out it's something simple

It's working now. Don't know exactly what I did but the light in the power button started to light up when I was playing with and now it's fine.
