Recording Series on Hopper 3

I just got my Hopper 3 installed today. I'm going through setting my timers and something seems wrong. I chose "record series" for Law & Order SVU, but it shows that it will only record the show when it is on USA. I can choose the SVU in the guide on PAX and click Record Series and it will record all the episodes on that air on that channel. Is there not a way to record a show on every channel that it airs?

There was no way I knew of to do what you are asking on the H2. If a series had reruns under TNT but the new ones were under FOX then I had to set 2 timers. Record a series has always recorded the series on the channel where it was originally scheduled. Not sure why the H3 would be different, it would be nice but I don't think it's changed from the old way.

My Hopper 2000 let me do series pass that recorded all of the series regardless of the channel. I was able to get all of the original Law & Order episodes in a few weeks. I thought that was the idea behind name-based recording.

I don't know about the Hopper 3 but on the original Hopper you do a search for what you want then do a Seek & Record to record across multiple channels. I never use it, however.

Thank you! Seek & Record was what I was thinking of. However, I don't see Seek & Record in the Hopper 3. Anyone have any ideas on this? Is it available?

Yes, it is. You do a search for your program. When you see it, you do a Record When Available. That will set up a Seek in your timers.

Any recording set from search (so search for law and order) not from guide will record shows across all channels.

I've seen the "record when available" option on some shows and not on others. I also don't see it when trying to do a keyword search, which was available on the HWS. Is this possibly something else that could just take time to populate? My install was Wednesday so it's been slightly less than 48 hours since I went live on the Hopper 3.

I'm not able to set a seek type timer for "the last man on earth". Search results return "No Results Found" No option 's to set a timer.

I know it will be caught on PTAT, but that does no good unless I'm there to save it.

Is it possible to set a Seek recording on a show that's not in the guide yet?

Same results for searching and setting a James Bond seek recording. Not possible that I see.

Do that same search again, then when you see "No Episodes Available" press skip back and voila select "Record When Available"
That is the way I caught up on all my shows that are out of season.

NOPE!!!!!

If search has no hits, you can't set any kind of timer for what you are looking for. That wouldn't be so bad but you can no longer set a Seek timer in the DVR menus either. SERIOUS OMISSION.

I just tried that for "Bates Motel" and no luck. I contacted DIRT about this issue and was told it was just designed that way. I used the seek and record function for more than 50% of my timers on my old HWS so I'm not very happy with the lack of this feature in the "upgrade".

I tried that on Bates Motel a few days ago and it worked. So I went back and deleted that timer and started over. No option for that on Bates Motel now. Only Watch On Netflix now, which of course doesn't work.
The Last Man On Earth still works.
I had some other trouble with the Search. When I search for Married At First Sight, I only get options for FYI channel but none are for A&E.

I've tried several shows including Ash vs. Evil Dead and Into the Badlands and no luck with those either. I get VOD options for some, but no way to record future showings.
Keyword searches are the same. I used to have several timers that recorded just based on keywords in the title or description and no options now.

I just tried the Ash vs. Evil and I get the On Demand. Then I press the SKIP BACK button and there is the option to record future episodes.

You're right. I just tried also and it worked great. Still no luck on Bates Motel for me either. I wonder if it's just shows with absolutely no current playings or VOD options that won't work.
When I reported it, this is what I got back.

Bates Motel worked like Ash vs. Evil a few days ago. But not today. Maybe it has to do with the Netflix option.

Go to search. Type in the show you want. If no results show up select Summary. On this screen you will see the option to record future shows in the bottom left hand corner.

Does not work. Putting in James Bond and selecting 0 view all results for "James Bond" then hitting skip back does nothing on my H3

Dish needs to bring back Seek and Record quickly please! 90% of my timers are set this way because I do not want to wait till new things are in the guide.

I agree 100%. This is a huge missing feature to me. I'm not sure if it's just a bug or intentional that it was left out, but I hope it gets resolved soon.
