Recording of programs..are there any "restrictions"?

This comes from a friend who has the RTN racing service.
He claims he had trouble recording races for review at a later date.
Most of these are fairly large bettors. They do this for a living. For them, information is everything.
I explained to him, I know of no such restrictions on recording races on his DVR...
Just want to clarify here.

Dish CAN set Limited recording for things, and I assume that also means no recording.

Have him look for the yellow(IIRC) note on the info screen for "Limited Recording".
