I know it sounds like an odd question. Quite simple though so here goes nothin. I have my DVR 522 set to auto record (default feature) This means that when I land on a channel, w/o having to hit record it is already doing so. Comes in handy when I want to rewind something I missed.

My question is say I come in from outside and the tv has been on for 30 min... Is there a way to record what has already been written to the disk so that I can watch the "entire" show later?

Thanks in advance for your help guys. I love this board.

Are you referring to the Buffer? I thought that was always running. Doesn't matter.

Anyway, the answer is 'yes'. Two ways to do it. One ("Record Entire Event") doesn't always work quite right. If the situation is exactly how you say, and the tuner has been on that channel since before the current show started, "Record Entire Event" automates the second, more reliable, manual method, which is:
  1. Rewind (Back button) as far as you want (or are able)
  2. Hit Record (Option=to end of event)
  3. Fast Forward to "Live"
  4. Go back outside - your show will be there later

This may sound like a stupid question...................
