i have been out of the loop for a bit, just wondering what the "go to" receiver of choice is these days?

back then it was AZBox, Openbox, and i believe MicroHD

not looking to spend a fortune but definitely want DVB-S2 obviously,

so whats the best bang for the buck?

I have the Amiko Mini HD SE, it was about $100 including shipping when I bought mine.
It is anout the best bang for the buck now.

I would say either the MicroHD or mini SE.

I would stay away from anything DMSI brings over like the dbs6100 or sr1 there support just plain sucks now very disappointed in the company now hopefully that changes. Just ask KE4EST about that FS-SE meter he had lol.

One of the nice things that the Amiko Mini HD SE does is streaming to Android devices, I have streamed to an Android tablet and even to an Amazon Fire TV to play 4:2:2 feeds that the receiver could not play. The Amiko Mini HD SE box is an awesome deal for the price.
