Receiver Problems Help!!!!

First off when I play anything bakc from my DVR there is a skip in the sound every now and then. Only happens on DVR playback though.
Also there is a lag in the time that I push a button and when the command comes up on the screen. It is very annoying.
This is the second DVR I have had, the first was struck by lightning and I am afraid the same has happened to this one. All of this began after a big electrical storm and we had a power surge. Will Dish send me another DVR for free? I had the DVR on a surge protector but it still messed up. Any thoughts?

What DVR? The sound drop is a known bug with the 625. Have you done a hard re-boot (unplug)?

It is a 625, but I have never had a problem before the storm rolled through. Worked perfect before and now skipping when played back. I don't care to call and get a new DVR but I don't want to lose all my DVR saved items. Anyway I can transfer them to a computer or something, but I don't want the skipped sound in the playback. I did unplug it and have done 2 power downs, where you hold in the power button. Both didn't help any.

How often does it happen, every 20 minutes or so for 1 or 2 seconds? That's the norm for the 625. It may have taken a while for the problem to surface. Storm was probably just coincidence.
