There are certainly brands which are more hacker-oriented.
One brand which comes to mind is highly advertized, and yet might get only a "B-" ranking.
Until it got better motor support last year, it might have gotten a "C-"
And worse yet, other models in that brand have similar names but no blind scan.
I'd rate those somewhere around "D-" at best.
Something that most wouldn't want to see publicized, but would still be useful, is a list of the 5..8 better receiver which we WOULD recommend...
... along with some of their shortcomings.
Things like poor meter response or range..
... no support from Channel Master program...
... poor or ragged support for various switch configurations ...
... confusing menu structures...
things like that.
Of course, for some users, those wouldn't matter, but it's still valuable info.
