If I'm watching television when the house power goes out, then when I get power back it takes about two minutes for the Dish receiver to boot back up and I'm watching TV again. However, if I unplug the receiver then plug it back in, it goes through a complete check switch and program guide download before allowing me to watch TV. That takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
What's the difference between the two losses of power? Does the receiver somehow sense the television's power situation and react differently?
If so, can I switch inputs on the television and watch OTA TV while waiting for the receiver to go through it's reboot procedure? Or, will the receiver sense that I'm no longer watching that input and cease it's reboot?
Thanks.
p.s. I'm using a VIP211K
