Really want DISH/DIRECTV, bad contractor experience. Advice needed

Hi folks!
Any advice you can give would be great. My brother lives in Ripley, OH (about 50 miles from Cincinnati on the Ohio River) and he lives right at the base of a ridge that, at the top, provides an absolute unobstructed view of the southern sky. The distance from the ridgetop down to the top of the house is about 200 feet. He did have a DISH (or DirecTV, it's been a couple of years) contractor to come out who just took one look and said "you don't have a view of the southern sky so it can't be done".

There's a lot of great knowledge on these forums so I guess my question is: is there a way to get DISH equipment and have another qualified technician to install it? Forgive my questions because I'm not a satellite person but I suppose my questions are....
1. Where would I find someone locally to do a site survey ? (Cincinnati, OH/Maysville, KY area, probably wouldn't take a knowledgable technician very long)
2. Can this same person install my equipment?
3. Is 200 feet of drop too long? (I thought I read that if it's shielded enough that it might be fine)

He's actually fine not having TV, it's my sister-in-law's sanity I'm concerned about. :D
Accept my apologies again for what are probably remarkably remedial questions for this forum.

1) You can try calling a retailer. If you go through us directly, we would have to set the whole order up before someone could come out. Here's a link for your nearest retailer. DISH - Support - Tools & Apps

2) You'd have to ask them.

3) 200 feet is the maximum cable length we allow between the dish and the receiver. You're on the border of working/not working.

I'm sure others will chime in regarding the max cable length, and possible solutions.

On some commercial installs where i've gone and done line drops later, the BIGGER commercial guys have run rg11 from single lnbs to amps and then dpp switch. Never seen a signal issue, and that's in a million square feet warehouse environment.

your job would be past the "Free install" Rg 6 could work but any installer quoting for the job should push the RG11. If a post can be installed at the top of the 200' ridge and cabling your looking around a $200-500 install quote if not more if its more then 200' .

As a retailer we can make anything work. The question is how much do you want to spend with amplification and better cable such as RG11.

If you got an Iphone or smart phone, get the APP that lets you see if you have a line of site and go from there.

As far as 200 feet of cable, we really need to know if its actually 175 feet or 250 feet, as it does make a difference

IS the ridge 200 in elevation above your home? Or is the ridge 200 feet away? If it's the former, the cabling will be longer than 200 feet. Remember, the limited without amplification is 200 feet or so.
In any event, I am betting this can be done.
I would expect to pay in excess of $500 or more. Good luck!

I've seen systems with regular rg-6 and inline amplifiers well in excess of 300ft work without problems more so with dp equipment versus dpp. i would check out ea though definitely an option all depends on your locals market or if your able to go without locals just to have something to watch thats an option too.
