hey guys.
I want to apologize in advance for all my questions...I know I might sound stupid...but I don't really know much about this.

I'm wana be able to watch the tv channels from Cuba (CUBAVISION INTERNACIONAL)and I got told that can be done with Intelsat PAS 9
I have the frequency , Symbol rates and transponder ..pretty much all the info ...but here is the really question..

I have no idea what equipment I need to do that..I mean what brand, model ..I don't really know what I need.

So please any help I'll really appreciated

Thanks

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Except of course the one that doesn’t get asked. :)

Any stationary FTA satellite package should work. Equipment feature needs vary from person to person. Here is an example of some dish/receiver/LNBF combo deals that will work.

This is certainly not your only choice just something to give you an idea of what you need. Click on the sponsor links above for more examples. Do some reading on this site too. If you can find a used primestar dish you can save some money. There are sooooooo many choices.

Happy dish hunting!

where ya located? In about 1/2 the US you might be able to get Hispasat at 30W. They have Cubavision (the "original" and the Int'l version which are 2 different channels) and a few other Cuban channels. I can get it in Minnesota but it is a low elevation (9 degrees or so)

once again guys..thanks alot

Nver said you were on the west coast ;)
If you're in Tampa, as long as you have a good view to the east you could get Hispasat which would give you a better array of Cuba channels as posted above.

If all you want is Cuban channels, any of these would work (remove the space between the www. and the web address)

Here is a similar package from one of our sponsors, SatelliteAV:
FORTEC MERCURY II SYSTEM - FIXED - SatelliteAV, LLC.
The included cables in the installation kit, might make this an attractive offer.

Same outfit also sells a PVR-capable receiver, that can record your shows, with the addition of a user-supplied hard drive.
VISIONSAT IV-200 PVR SATELLITE RECEIVER - SatelliteAV, LLC.
I don't see it offered in a package, but I'm sure they'd be happy to make one for you.

One other site I looked at, offered a package with a 24" dish.
That was just not suitable, for so many reasons!
Look for 30" to 36" when you shop.

You may see some packages offer a motor.
That's used to aim the dish to receive other satellites.
Installing for the first time without a motor is much easier, and if you just want the one satellite, that's the way to go.
Frankly, if you were to just need two or three satellites, I might suggest either more fixed dishes, or additional LNBs on one dish.
But, that's for later...

Hispasat can use either or. I used a standard when I had a dish there

Pas9 at 58 needs a Universal
