Hello Rick
As you found out. From my experience with the Voom box, it is just a waste of time and good money. Well, money at least. All Voom boxes are area specific. Programmed by the satellite provider for local channels in a specific geographical area. Once moved to another area it must be reprogrammed to that area. And sines the provider is non existent, thus no new programming. Wallah ! = "Boat Anchor" I want to mention that I have a HDTV station ten miles from me with good signal strength and it won't give me a decodeable signal..Out of five stations in my area I get one and sometimes two with a rather large outside antenna. For the most part Voom boxes are sold on eBay, thus its a buyer-be-ware situation. I could go on but I won't. This is my recommendation. Abandon the Voom and buy yourself a receiver that is not satellite specific. ie: Dish, Direct etc. One more thing for you to consider. Get yourself a Dish 811 HDTV system with locals, your problems will be over.
Feel free to contact me and ask me a question or two. Note: I sell nothing and I'm not commected to any commercial company. Strictly a hobbiest. Tnx Gary

Subject: [VOOM/DISH/OTA] NO SIGNAL
I just received a voom with the latest software. I must be doing
something wrong. I can't get any signal. The list of local channels
is not for my area. Chicago. It is pretty frustrating. The present
antenna is Jensen 920. I just purchased the new TERK HDTVLP
LOW PROFILE INDOOR ANTENNA. Any help in getting unit to work would
be
greatly appreciated.
