From One of the posts that Scott wrote he said,

"Earlier this week Dish Network took control of a few transponders that were vacated by Sky Angel, which has ended its DBS distribution in factor of an IPTV based solution. It is expected that Dish will use these transponders to expand its HD offerings both nationally and with local HD programming."

My question is about how many channels would that allow to uplink?

nadda since dish's issue isn't space so much as uplink / contracts / etc..

i think with the new mpeg4 encoders they are able to put up to 7 HD channels on one transponder, or a ridiculous number of SD channels.
