Blah days of February edition...
1. Any old timers remember when St. John's was good? Rotten game last night. Duke stinks, St. John's is worse. We need the city players to stay, Norm.
2. The 1985 Duke/St John's game on ESPN Classic was better. Like the shorty shorts...
3. Rumors of bad things for the Montreal Canadiens. Mafia ties, gambling, game fixing, under age girls, prostitution, drugs. Could be real, could be the French Canadian media trying to sell papers.
4. The Kostytsin brothers and sister Rose (I mean Roman Hamrlik) were tied to some minor things last night, but it could be the tip of the iceberg.
5. NBA trade deadline day was a dud.
6. A-Rod is going to have a difficult time keeping track of his lies. It's a lot easier when you tell the truth.
7. He said the female reporter BROKE INTO HIS HOUSE. Then apologized and said he was wrong. How do you get that wrong?
8. I was popping into the Yankees/Mets game five of the 2000 World Series a little last night, to break up my alma mater's monotony. Did you know Al Leiter threw over 140 pitches for the Mets in that game? Gave up the Series winning hit in the top of the ninth to Luis Sojo on like his 143rd pitch, with John Franco warming up in the bullpen. This is after a two out walk, then a two out single by Brosius. Surprised I don't remember that being a big story back then, like when Grady Little left Pedro in the game in 2003.
9. Watched Harry and Tonto the other day. What a sweet movie. Art Carney and the Cat. In HD too. It was great.
10. Juno was also a great movie. The 16 year old girl was a little too clever, it sounded more like 40 year old writers were talking, but it was still a great movie.
11. I predicted the Rangers fighting for a playoff spot back in December when they were near the top of the Eastern Conference, and I was right.
12. I think goaltending could be the undoing of the Red Wings in the playoffs.
13. I just don't see the Penguins missing the playoffs.
14. Jim Calhoun is very difficult to root for.
15. The guys here touting their conference like it's so amazing could look silly in March.
16. Is Coach K on Lost? Just like Richard, he looks exactly the same no matter what era you see him in.
17. Speaking of Lost,
18. Will you watch the Academy Awards?
19. Here is what you need to know about Brett Favre's season with the Jets. September 28, 2008, he throws six touchdowns against the Cardinals, who actually turned out to be pretty good. In Green Bay it would have been time for another statue, 4,000 articles of how great Brett is, everyone would have bowed in his presence. Here in New York, it was the same day the Mets completed their historic collapse and fell out of the playoffs with a loss to the Marlins on the final day of the season. There was very little discussion of Favre.
20. Four Big East teams in the top 10. Didn't know that until I said it (I mean salsa said it) in the NCAA thread. Thanks salsa.

17. Speaking of Lost,
how did Hurley get out of jail and onto the plane the other night? Why did he change his mind? Why was Sayid with a marshall? What about Desmond? He's not going back? 'We're not going to Guam, are we?' Great line.
