It's been a while for me...

1. How great was the 8th inning for a Yankee fan? Papelbon gives up the go ahead run, Wagner allows the AL to tie it in the bottom of the inning.

2. How can the umps get so many calls wrong? Tejada waves instead of actually tagging, the guy who was safe at home...do they actually look at the base, or just decide if the ball got there first?

3. I felt so badly for Dan Uggla...his all star dream turned into a nightmare. Thank goodness the AL didn't score in that inning.

4. Should Mariano really be showing Halladay and Kazmir how to throw the cutter?

5. I went to Maine and the Mets won every game while I was gone...now I'm back!

6. Speaking of Maine, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are absolutely stunning. Gorgeous rocky cliffs and mountains right over the ocean.

7. Nieces and nephews drag me up to Cadillac Mountain at 4:30 AM to be amongst the first people in the US to see that day's sunrise.

8. Is this when the Yankees catch fire? Or is that next week? Or the week after that? I forget. Sadly, I think the Yankees did too.

9. The Knicks Italian draft pick played one summer league game and hurt his back...Mama Mia!

10. How could Tom Seaver not be on the field with the other Hall of Famers...in New York?!?

11. Plans have finally been announced to replace the Nassau Mausoleum with a new arena...they'll be playing in a circus tent instead!

12. On a related note, the dopeLanders have contacted Ringling Brothers regarding the third jersey they'll be using next season.

13. The NHL schedule is announced today...excellent.

14. Next triathlon is Saturday August 23, this time in my home state of NJ.

15. I don't want to brag (actually I do!), but after training for so long I am now in REALLY good shape for once. I followed nieces and nephews all over the huge rocks in Maine while the rest of the adults pooped out after about ten minutes.

16. What a shame, watching a Tour de France stage with the riders climbing up the Pyrenees (last week) or the Alps (this week) is amazing. It's just difficult to care when you know most of the field has been cheating. Kind of like MLB 5-10 years ago.

17. Am I the only one who loves watching the Little League world series, and all of the regional qualifying games leading up to it? I became interested when the local team from Toms River won it all a few years ago.

18. Can someone please find a way to get me interested in the British Open? I used to watch golf and I'd like to get into the majors, but I just can't seem to do it. Are any of the golfers hotties?

19. How can Brett Favre be so wrong on the timing of most every decision he makes?

20. T-minus less than six months until Ohio State gets destroyed in the National Championship game.

21. Roger, Roger, Roger...

22. Seems like everyone in all of New England is a Red Sox fan and displays it proudly...wonder if that was the case five years ago?

23. Don't NFL players usually report by now?

24. Joe Girardi looked like he didn't know where to sit when Terry Francona took over his dugout for the night.

25. Terry Francona is one of the classiest guys in sports.

26. Did anyone watch the celebrity softball game Monday night? Is there a worse athlete in the world than Chris Rock? How about the double play Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal turned?

27. Glen Sather is losing it again...six years for Wade Redden is a joke. Dimitri Kalinin is lazy, I guess Sather thinks he'll turn it on in his contract year. The Rangers know they'll miss Jagr and Avery, not sure if they realize what they'll be missing without Marty Straka...what a warrior he's been.

28. On the flip side, to Sather's credit the Rangers have been churning out a lot of quality young players (Staal, Dubinsky, Girardi, Dawes, Callahan), and the trend will continue with Bobby Sanguinetti, Lauri Korpikoski and Alexei Cherepanov.

29. Doesn't Henrik know I'm in bikini shape again? When is he going to call already???

30. Gotta go to the pool...

Trust me it was. Now as far as the Patriots go............that's another story, there's a ton of bandwagon fans there.

Golf is a sport that I'm convinced that unless you have played and enjoy it, it is hard to appreciate it on TV. BTW, my wife thinks this guy is attractive.... (Click on his name, I have a link to his picture).

Adam Scott (BTW, he's currently leading the British Open)

23. Don't NFL players usually report by now?

The Browns first official day of training camp is next Wednesday, the 23rd. I'd imagine the rest of the NFL would be starting also soon.

30. Gotta go to the pool...

You really live a life of leisure, don't you?

30. Gotta go to the pool...

You really live a life of leisure, don't you?

Here is my leisurely day at the pool...

400 yard warm up
200 yards of form drills
600 yards of moderate interval training (6 x 100 yards with 5 second rest intervals)
750 yards of intense interval training (5 x 150 yards very hard with 45 second rest intervals...grueling)
200 yards of kick sets with a kickboard
400 yard cool down

2,550 yards total...about a mile and a half

Anyone care to join? :)

I only wish I could quit my day job to splash in the pool! ;)

2. You are absolutley right...
This game could have been over much earlier had that call been made correctly, I mentioned that in a ASG thread we were chatting in.
There was a base hit shortly after that would have easily scored the runner, vs the slower guy that got thrown out later.

3. Fotunatley fro Dan, none of the errors lead to any runs.

4. Sure, it's a close knit fraturnety .

7. Was it breathtaking ?

10. There's another thread talking about alot of HOF 's that were not there for a variety of reason, some may have not been asked for some reason. I think it's a select few that were invited, I'd like to talk to the person deciding ...
Are you kidding me that there is only ONE HOF Centerfielder ?

20. As opposed to NOT MAKING IT AT ALL ?
There's always the possibility that they will make it there and win for a change ...
How many other teams long to get that far, oh ya that's right, ALL OF THEM :)
Buckeyes have played in what, 3 in the last 7-8 years ?, who else can say that ?

29. Doesn't Henrik know I'm in bikini shape again? When is he going to call already???

7. 4:30 AM? Damn, that's really tough to get up that early.

9. I am skeptical about this pick; if he becomes plagued by injury, combined with the fact that the passed up Jarrod Bayless, that could prove to be a bad decision.

20. They're not getting to the national title game, IMO. They'll make a New Year's Day game (Rose or Cotton) and they'll win.

27. I think that's an awful move. IMO, Redden is as soft as warm chocolate cookie dough.

29. Maybe if you posted a picture of what you look like in a bikini, Henrik would notice.

P.S. Like my new signature? It's my twist on those 'The most interesting man in the world commercials.'

25. Terry Francona is one of the classiest guys in sports. It didn't stop him from getting booed too.

I've attended many Red Sox-Yankee games at the Stadium over the years and I've definitely noticed a change in how the Yankee fans act towards Sox players and fans. Before 2004 there was animosity to be sure, but it seemed to be almost pity-based. Poor Red Sox, not winning in a million years.... But, since the recent Sox World Series victories there seems to be more frustration and dare I say, jealousy??
:D

10. How could Tom Seaver not be on the field with the other Hall of Famers...in New York?!?

Also missing were, to name a few:

Bobby Doerr
Monte Irvin
Stan Musial
George Kell
Red Schoendienst
Duke Snider
Jim Bunning
Sandy Koufax
Joe Morgan
Nolan Ryan
Johnny Bench
Sparky Anderson
Carl Yastrzemski

29. Doesn't Henrik know I'm in bikini shape again? When is he going to call already??? Photos, please?? :p

We're supposed to boo the Red Sox manager in New York. It's what we do. Wouldn't be right if we didn't. Goodness, people act like noone has ever been booed anywhere else in the history of sports.

I think the uptick in animosity toward the Red Sox is more a sign of respect. Teams are loveable when they find a way to lose all the time...when they win two World Series in four years, they're not loveable losers anymore.

Does anyone think Yankee players would be cheered at an all-star game at Fenway???

Relax, hun, I'm a huge Buckeye fan too, remember? I'm on your side. I just feel like my team has become somewhat of a national joke the last two years.

I, as much as anyone else, appreciate everything Jim Tressel has done for the program. 6-1, great recruiting classes year after year, the championship, restoring Ohio pride to the team...it's been an amazing run, and it's just beginning.

I'm old enough (barely!) to remember Cooper saying the Michigan game was just another game on the schedule, so trust me, what Tressel has done with the program is alright by me.

It depends on the situation, I'm sure you would get your small amount of boos when introduced, once the game is on, not unless they make a stupid play, just like everyone else.

Oh Dear God, I find out that we are on the same side after all the bashing going on in the baseball threads ... Who'd a thunk it....
