1. It's sooooooo nice being married. :)

2. Congratulations to Ramy on his upcoming nuptials. I've said it before and it bears repeating...the key to a successful marriage is...spoiling your wife! ;)

3. The NFL lockout is like a stock that has reached it's support level. If it breaks through support, the stock will most likely drop to it's next support level. If the NFL deal doesn't get done in the next few days, they'll most likely start losing pre-season games...and the next support level/deadline is the regular season.

4. Pre-season NBA games are irrelevant and do not generate much income. The lowest NBA support level/deadline is January.

5. Albert Haynesworth, Antwaan Randle-El, Adam Archuleta...I'm thinking the Redskins should steer clear of free agents Ahmad Bradshaw and Antonio Cromartie!

6. If the deal is ratified in the next day or two, it will bring the most frenzied free agent signing period we've ever seen in any sport. There will be signings like every 20 seconds.

7. For me, Ohio State being a non-factor this season will be kind of like when the Rangers miss the playoffs. It sucks, but the bright side is you can relax and watch the rest of the teams play without the stress of worrying about your team every week.

8. The back of the rotation starting pitching for the Yankees this season has been absolutely amazing. Let's hope it keeps up, and that Phil Hughes can get back to his former self as well.

9. You can have Pujols, give me Prince Fielder. He can be our Big Fat Papi-type DH for the next 10 years. I know that doesn't really work since A-Rod is probably 3-5 years away from being a full-time DH himself, but I don't care. Make it happen. Fielder would be a terrific Yankee.

10. Is boxing still a sport?

11. It'll be very interesting if NBA players flock to Europe the same way NHL players flocked to Russia's KHL hockey league in 2006, but anyone who thinks they'll stay there for good is outside their mind. If Europe were a better alternative to the NBA, players would already be in Europe. Basketball will always be a mere blip on the radar screen (or to quote Mad Dog Russo, a pimple on the fanny!) compared to soccer in Europe.

12. Speaking of soccer...we were in Myrtle Beach with my nephew for the AAU national basketball championships last week, watching the women's world cup together, and it was so funny to watch a bunch of 16 year old boys fall in love with Hope Solo! Granted Hope is a good looking girl, but personally I thought the striker that came on as a substitute, Alex Morgan, was the prettiest girl on the team. But when they showed her on camera the boys said nothing...what's up with that?

13. Seems like the Giant fan who was beaten in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium has taken a turn for the worse. Such a shame. I hope the animal who did this to him is brought to justice soon.

14. OK I have to keep it real...as evil as Michael Vick was before he was found out, he seems to be doing everything right since he was released.

15. European soccer players get paid an awful lot of money, but they have virtually no off-season. Their season ends in May/June, starts again in late August, and right now there are teams like Real Madrid and Manchester United touring the USA playing local sides and MLS all-star teams. That's a lot.

16. The Nationals and Braves have a sick amount of prospects headed to the big team. The Phillies are the Phillies. Gonna be a long road for the Mets, with or without Reyes.

17. So funny being the only 'white' team in our division at the AAU tournament. There were some white players on other teams, but I'm pretty sure we were the only totally white team. We actually sensed that many of the neutral fans were rooting for our team because we were such an oddity! The ironic thing is that there are two black players on the team, but they couldn't make the trip for different reasons. One just moved locally and the family couldn't work it out, and the other had to stay home for high school football practice...and unfortunately all of his rebounds stayed home with him!

18. So, one of those second baseman won that home run derby thing after all. ;)

19. Rachel Uchitel is not ugly.

20. Nice to see some new names posting here recently. Gets old having the same discussions with the same old knuckleheads! (present company included!)

21. Yay Breaking Bad is back on! Haven't watched any new episodes yet...please no spoilers!

22. OK, if I were a betting person (and I totally am not!), here is the system I would use. Whenever a major league team won or lost three games in a row, I would ride that winning or losing streak until it ends. Seems like so many teams grow to 5-10 game (or more) winning or losing streaks.

23. Did anyone see Stephen Drew break his ankle on the slide into home last night? I was watching it live...frightening to say the least. His foot was pointed the wrong way, and he tried to put it back in place. We will not see him for quite a while. On almost the very next play, Carlos Gomez fractured his collar bone making a nice catch in center field. The D-Backs announcers were noticeably shaken.

24. Anyone watch the Curt Flood special on HBO?

25. Socastee High School, just south of Mytrle Beach, has the most amazing murals in a gymnasium I've ever seen. Their team is called the Braves, and they have a huge paronamic painting of a bunch of warriors with spears surfing to shore, that surrounds a lot of the court. They also have a few other terrific warrior paintings.

26. There are also some absolutely huge high school football stadiums in the South. My goodness.

27. The ending of Friday Night Lights was so amazing that my husband and I are now going to watch all five seasons together. We are about six episodes into season one, and I HIGHLY recommend this to everyone. I didn't start watching until halfway throught the first season, I think, when so many critics mentioned it as one of the best shows at the end of the calendar year. What an amazing show. I'm falling in love with Matt Saracen all over again!

28. Go Pirates! Finishing over .500 would be wonderful. Winning the division would be priceless! Pirate fans deserve it.

29. Iman Shumpert. Still not feeling it.

30. You'll never know what it's like to go to Hooters with a bunch of 16 year old boys until you actually do it. And how Hooters girls react to a bunch of 16 year old boys. Goodness gracious!!!

Stay cool.

I will soon find out. 9 days to go.

2. Congratulations to Ramy on his upcoming nuptials. I've said it before and it bears repeating...the key to a successful marriage is...spoiling your wife! ;)
Hey, I try to do that all the time.

I almost don't care anymore if they play or not.

5. Albert Haynesworth, Antwaan Randle-El, Adam Archuleta...I'm thinking the Redskins should steer clear of free agents Ahmad Bradshaw and Antonio Cromartie!
With their luck they should steer clear of all free agents.

You are nuts. I will take Pujols twice over Fielder.

13. Seems like the Giant fan who was beaten in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium has taken a turn for the worse. Such a shame. I hope the animal who did this to him is brought to justice soon.
Yes it is

19. Rachel Uchitel is not ugly.
Who?

Yes, or seeing the same arguments.

28. Go Pirates! Finishing over .500 would be wonderful. Winning the division would be priceless! Pirate fans deserve it.
No they don't. Most of them abandoned them when they were losing so they deserve nothing. :D

No, you are soooooooooo wrong. We didn't abandoned the pirates, the pirates abandoned us. Until recently the pirates didn't spend money on players, prospects and draft choices. They only drafted players they thought was in their budget, they had no prospects and gave away all our good players for nothing just like the Ramirez or Bay trade.

You actually believe people should spend their hard earn money on a team that doesn't want to spend money to win?

Look at this year they are winning so people WILL support them and if they keep winning, over 500, people will continue to support them, people get tied of fireworks and bobbleheads, they want more.

Now if the pirates sign McCutchin after his arbitration they will be doing right for the team, if they trade him for a nobody or just let him go the city will be mad.

Have the Pirates really spent anything or are they just getting really lucky this year and prospect pieces are falling into place? I hope for their fans, they go all the way and play the Yankees in the World Series (lose of course:D). I doubt their real fans have abandoned them. More or less the Ownership/Management has abandoned the fans, just like they did in Toronto. The Blue Jays would be fighting it out with the Yankees, and Red Sox right now if Rogers hadn't gotten so cheap and let Holiday go, rather than building a championship team around him.

Having not have to waste a beautiful fall Saturday stuck indoors will definitely by a welcome thing.

A-Rod still has the highest fielding percentage among any active AL third basemen. I don't think he's fading as fast as you think in the field.

10. Is boxing still a sport?
Not sure. A lot of people seem to be into this MMA thing, which I've yet to get into myself. I do know of their infamously annoying douchey fans though. They can be spotted wearing Fugly Ed Hardy and Affliction tees.

If enough players flock to Europe, I wonder if ESPN or another network will jump all over it to cover these games and broadcast them domestically?

I'd pick Alex Morgan over Hope as well.

19. Rachel Uchitel is not ugly.
She's kind of a butter-face though.

Yes it is! Welcome newbs! Keep on posting! The more, the merrier!

21. Yay Breaking Bad is back on! Haven't watched any new episodes yet...please no spoilers!
Have never seen it, although I've heard all the praise. New and final season of Rescue Me just started. Love that show! Total man show though, not sure how you'd like it.

I missed last season. No spoilers! I agree though, excellent show! One of the best in recent memory. In all of TV!

28. Go Pirates! Finishing over .500 would be wonderful. Winning the division would be priceless! Pirate fans deserve it.
Pirates fans deserve squat. That stupid city has the Steelers and Penguins to dry their eyes. They get no pity out of this Clevelander.

I watched the first few seasons of Rescue Me...they were terrific, but then the show seemed to lose some steam for me. Same thing happened with Dexter, Weeds, True Blood, Nurse Jackie, 30 Rock, and a few others. We watch so much sports that we have to be very selective on which shows we record, or we'll never watch them. Current faves I would recommend are Breaking Bad, Justified, Louie, Big Bang Theory, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, Glee, Big Bang Theory, Community, The Good Wife, Treme, Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, and the ultimate 'guys' show...Entourage!

Absolutely amazing. The only thing I will say is that in true FNL fashion the ending left me both laughing and crying, happy and sad, all at the same time. When I think of certain parts of it I still get chills right now. Just terrific.

Saracen, Julie, Landry, Street, Buddy Garrity, Luke, Vince, Tim and Billy Riggins, Jess, Tinker, and even Grandma Saracen and Gracie Bell...oh my goodness, I'm going to miss them all.

Coach and Tammy Taylor are the most realistic husband and wife I have ever seen on television.

My lord you watch a lot of TV!!! Of your list of current favs, I watch Louie. And that's it. Very funny show. I've seen Louis CK's comedy routine live as well. One of my favorite comics going today.

I heard a recent radio interview with the actress who plays Tammy Taylor on NPR. She is as genuine as she seems on the show. Did you happen to see Super8 yet? Coach Taylor plays the Dad in that movie. He's such a great actor too!

Big Bang Theory is so good you named it twice. ;)

It is really good though.

Yes they spent more money on draft picks over the last few years than most teams, now that will help them in the future.

For this year it's a surprise to everyone they are doing this good, with the new coach they are doing great.

At least we have teams that win championships in the modern era, how about you?

Wait never mind I know the answer, you have the rock and roll HOF, that's better than any championship.

1 - Congratulations.

3 - I like that analogy.

7 - Outlaw State needs to "miss the playoffs" for a very long time to come, or the NCAA has no crediability.

9 - The guy just seems like a flake to me.

10 -It is to those of us who still care about it. I have a shot at a part-time job in boxing regulation in my state. I hope you guys will send me a good thought or two.

11- I do not understand the money that Euro basketball tosses around. If you watch the games when they are on NBATV, its a couple of thousand in a small arena, at best.

13 - For the first time, the Angels have a real shot at being more than just "Orange County's team" or something to do if you really want to watch a game and the Dodgers are out of town. If the Angels prosper, the Dodgers continue not to, and Dodger Stadium gets a rep, deserved or not, as a bad place to be, the fundamental paterns in LA might change.

25 - Myrtle Beach is a special area for HS ( and HS aged independent sports). Lots of wealthy parents. Lots of people who moved there specifically to get their kinds high level competition. Great basketball and baseball, and good football.

28 - Pittsburgh will finish under 500, its just a function of the schedule right now. Pirate fans do NOT deserve anything. Where were they for the last 20 years? Pittsburgh just is not a MLB sized market any more.

not so black and white my friends... one had A CHANCE to be a winner...one had NO CHANCE at all. LOL!

Weren't you the one saying a year or so ago that "It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got a ring"??? How quickly you forgotten. Funny how you're suddenly satisfied in "just getting there". Lol!!!

I DID say ""It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got a ring"... What I DID NOT say was that I was "satisfied getting there". We were jokingly debating the difference between losing IN THE Finals..and be a loser ALL SEASON.

But I will give you an "A" for effort.
