RA'd 622 and got a 722

Well I called to replace my 622 and I got a 722 as a free upgrade. What are they going to do with the 622's?

They probably just ran out of 622's at the warehouse and wanted to hurry up and take care of you instead of waiting for more 622's to come in from being remanufactured.

Its like last year I RMA'd some 2800's and ended up getting 211's and 211 K's.

From what I hear though this is for everyone that calls in to replace their 622. I just asked while I had it activated.

I thought the only difference between the 622 and 722 was hard drive size. If that is the case, a 'refurbished' 622 easily becomes a 722.

If the USB Sling works on a 722 but does not work on a 622 there must be some significant difference meaning a 622 cannot be "refurbished" to a 722.

I decided to jump to a HDDVR, from my 211K. They noted on my order (installer coming by Fri) that I wanted a 722K (used to have one with the OTA module and loved it). I hope they can swing the right gear.

Perhaps they have an excess of 722s, and/or are stockpiling 622s to replace MPEG2 DVRs.

I know that when ever I create a RA for a 622 the past week, on the RA part it says that it will be a 722. The 722 has an updated chip set and bigger hard drive, I think DISH is trying to get rid of all the 622's and get everyone 722's.

Definitely not they don't even want them back now and last year you were supposed to get 311's as the replacement just like now. There is nothing to be done with the old legacy stuff.

Not anymore. Some older receivers (which I believe to be all QPSK receivers) are now considered "obsolete" and no longer need to be returned when service is canceled, or the equipment is replaced.

Effective February 2, 2011 we will no longer require customers to return any of these leased or owned obsolete receivers back to our DISH Network service centers.*

• 1000 / 2700 / 2800 / 3000 / 3700 / 3800 / 3900 / 4000 / 4700 / 4900 / 5000 / 6000 / 7100/7200 / 301 / 622HZ / 721 / 921 / 942 / 1022HZ / JVC IRR

*The 5000, 6000, 7100/7200, 622HZ, 721, 921, 942, 1022HZ and JVC IRR receivers cannot be re-activated once disconnected.
If the unit had an external Smart Card, a return prepaid USPS envelope will be sent for Smart Cards associated with the obsolete equipment (meaning the SC still needs to be sent back, but the receiver does not).

Can a 301 still be activated on an account?

I have a 301 & 311 sitting here (my dad deactivated them when he got the 625) and thought of selling them. yeah I know they only work on WA and are SD only but they would work in a RV or campsite If not I'll just chuck it

I think we can still activate them in the system (we definitely can activate the 311). I think it's a matter of should we activate them.

At the same time, the 301 isn't listed on the "can no longer activate when disconnected" list.

ok thanks for the info. I'll probably just chuck it then. I now the 311 is still able to be activated because it can do 8PSK for those local SD markets that have that

I think if we try to activate the receivers, they will be forced to be replaced. I know that techs are now actively replacing QPSK equipment when they go to a customer's home.
