I received a r15 receiver from a friend and now want to add this to my account. I have a few questions. 1-Am I correct I need a triple lnb dish for the setup of 1 standard rec. and this r15? 2-What fees am I looking @ adding this receiver. I have been with D* since 1997.

What type of dish you need depends upon your location by zip code, and what programming you have. You should be able to add it to your current dish using if it has enough available ports, or by using a multiswitch.

You will be charged $4.99 for an additional receiver fee for each receiver after the first one on the account. You will also be charged a DVR fee that is per account, regardless of how many DVR's you have.

The R15 will need two dedicated cables from the dish or the multiswitch to function properly.

This is assuming, of course, that your friend had the authority to transfer the receiver (read "ownership" and not leased) to you and the account balance on the receiver is current. DirecTV may charge you an access card replacement fee for the receiver that you got from your friend, but that is $19.95.

You really DON'T need to change the dish, but rather you need to add a multiswitch to your existing setup. But, since we don't know where you are or what dish(s) you have now, it's hard to get into specifics with you...

I have a single lnb dish and live in southern WV. Channel 490 says I am on sat A 101.
