My answer is No, but it doesnt fall in your two catagories. I do care about HD, but it doesnt tick me off that they have'nt added any yet. I am willing to wait.

I am not jumping ship although I would like those two channels more than almost all the other HD channels combined...(excluding HD-Movie channels of course)
But that is just my personal pref...

I beleive that Dish will eventuall add them and sooner rather than later. So I will wait...and see ....

Now if they dont have ScFi in HD up by the time BSG airs in April I am sooo out of here.

I already jumped ship, but for a completely different reason...DishHD-Lite, DishHD-Lite, more DishHD-Lite and even more DishHD-Lite. Love the HD DVR, like the service, but 2+ years of HD-Lite was more than enough for me and my eyeballs.

I called Sat, being installed today w/ Directv. I was going to give them until spring. My contract was up in Nov, but the lack of new HD news(100 by end 2008 is not news), 2 year commitment starting next month for a 722, price increase for no new hd channels and lack of reasoning with n/noggin thing made me have to make a decision before the end of January.

I choose

5) No, I'm giving it a bit longer.

I went with E* after being gone for years. Was going to D*, but their up front costs were ridiculous. Looks like their HD DVR has dropped in price, which makes things a bit more attractive. My dad gave me a 722 (long story) that I own, I bet I could sell that to pay for the HR-21's I'd need. :)

(I still hate PAYING for leased hardware and taking a contract, but...)

The deciding factor will be when BSG airs. If I can't see it in HD, I'm switching. That's in March.

In the meantime, with the writers strike, there's so little on that I find myself just netflixing or reading.

I am here until the end of hockey season (May) when my nhl CI package expires, and then will play it by ear.

If it were May now, I would be making the switch, whereas D* has my locals in HD (E* doesn't), D* would give me the YES Network (Yankees) as one of my RSN's (E* doesn't even offer the channel), and all the addition HD channels D* offers.

I did the math earlier this week. I would like to dump dish and get more HD .. but cannot justify the extra $$ that it would cost to go with Directv.

Even if i got all of the "new customer" deals - over the life of the two year contract .. Directv would still work out to be around $60 more expensive for the channels and equipment that are on my MUST HAVE list. (not including the cinemax for a penny deal i just got in on)

My cable company would work out cheapest of all .. by quite a long way .... (especially if i go with a bundle and include my internet connection) but they do not carry Setanta Sports and that is on my "MUST HAVE" list.

So i guess after all the shouting and screaming .... dish is the one that offers an average HD lineup (Directv has more Cable has less) for an average price (Cable is cheaper .. Directv is more expensive) which means its probably just easier for me to sit here and whine until Dish gets its finger out and makes me happy ....

So that's what i'll do ...

;)

I've been with the company since the 1st year the service went online, but enough is enough. My contract ends in early August and I will more than likely go with Direct TV. My other choise right now is Comcast Cable, and I blew off cable to go with DISH a long time ago. My neighbors with Comcast are still complaining about the same issues I had with cable then, so there is no way I will go back and give Comcast a try. In meantime, DISH can try to redeem itself, but I can't see it. I've been patiently waiting for FSN Bay Area HD for 2 years now. I seriously doubt if I stay with DISH, they will provide that channel anytime soon (not likley before my contract expires).

Yeah I'm staying I'm not to worried due to I think Dish will add more HD this year and add it when they can.

So, where did you go to get better quality. I know that Direct is no better and cable is worse.

Ditto to everything in your post!!

Thats not quite accurate. Directv's MPEG 4 channels wich is all of them except the original 9 are in full resolution full hd and blow dish's HD away. Directv is testing and looking at switching the last 9 mpeg2 to mpeg4 but that will happen the same time dish does. Cable, depends on your area and bandwith allotments on the cable system.

I am adding Direct and keeping Dish. My question though, if it is contract agreements over these two channels, how long will it take to negotiate hd when Dish will be able to put up more? What does this say about the many hd channels that they may have to negotiate to put them on one at a time. If this is the case, even with new birds, it is going to be a long year.

I am keeping Dish Network, BUT if Cleveland HD locals go on 129, or FSNOHio and STO ohio are kept there (if locals go to 61.5) then I might have to consider leaving...Indians are going all HD (every game) this year, and they are my number one must have channel!

I understand Dish's capacity problem, but given that, they still have capacity to add highly requested channels. I think it's been noted elsewhere that they have capacity for at least 10 more national HD channels with current capacity. I'll wait for the new sats to get full resolution, but I'll take the HD Lite for channels we're missing until then. They've uplinked channels and then never provided them to customers. They announced new HD packages and a price increase but have not stated that they're giving us anything new for it.

Come on give us something.

Good experience with Dish CSR

Where did ESPNHD go?
