1. I presume a negative elevation means the satellite is below my horizon?

2. Does elevation as in feet Above Sea/Ground Level have any effect on the elevation of the dish. If Dishpointer says 40.0 degrees, does it make a difference if the dish is 15 feet off the ground?

3. I downloaded a list of satellites from FTAList and they consisted of several from 72W to 125W. There are several satellites listed on Dishpointer in between the satellites on the list. Are they satellites not worth bothering with or..??

Thanks

The satellite lists all vary somewhat, some lists may not have the Pay=TV services birds listed, as usually most everything on them is scrambled anyway. Or there may be some satellites listed that are decommissioned, in-orbit spares, etc. If you have a specific question, ask and somebody here will likely know. As far as your first question, Yes, as far as I know. Anything with an E or S listed for its coordinates won't be watchable from most North American locations.

Yes, if it's a negative number the satellite is below the horizon. AND not receivable.

No. The elevation is the same, unless you're superman and get the dish above like 40,000 ft. In human terms can only help if there's obstructions you have to 'look over'. (trees, a house)

Yeah, TheList, and other FTA 'lists' only list the ones that are really truly FTA.(Free To Air) Those other satellites may be all subscription(pay) only. Requiring 'their' equipment.(purchase or rent)
