Hey I had direct tv but i switched to comcast.. I still have the dish on the roof. I was interested in an fta box.. would this work with direct tv?

Thanks

Eric

No for two reasons.

1. DirecTV uses DSS encoding, FTA is the DBS standard.
2. Their service is available only to paying customers.

So if i left the direct tv dish on the roof what would i have to do ? switch the lnb to make it work with an fta box?

Eric,

Welcome to Satelliteguys!

The DirecTV dish pointed to a DirecTV satellite location (the way it is now) will not work for true FTA. There are no FTA channel at 101°.

If you are asking how to get DirecTV channels without paying for DirecTV service (what some people think is FTA) you came to the wrong forum. See the forum rules you agreed to when you registered.

See ya

Maybe he was asking if the Same Dish could be used to pick up FTA channels? Thats what I assumed after reading it. He doesnt want to have to get another Dish, was wondering if Dish equipment would work to get FTA service.

I think you need a speical FTA receiver to pick it up not sure if the same dish would work. You would obviously need to repoint it though.
