Question on timer defaults

If I set my Timer Defaults to start "0" minutes early, and extend the recording by "1" minute it works this way on all Prime Time recordings, but on any other timer it starts 3 minutes early. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
I'm getting tired of skipping the first 3 minutes of those other recordings...

Timer defaults will not affect existing timers, only future timers you create. You'll need to edit each existing timer manually.

on my H3, 3 minutes early is not even an option (only 0,1,2,5,10,15,30, and 60 minutes)

That is true - and kind of strange, as ending 3 minutes late is an option. In fact, it looks like all the begin and end "padding" is the same, with the exception of the 3.
