I am going to sign up with dish at the end of the week. I have 3hd tvs and 1sd tv. My question is, which setup would be the best. I want to be able to watch programming on my iPad. Thanks for your help.

1 Hopper, 3 Joeys and the $30 Sling adapter for iPad viewing would work just fine. I am not sure I personally would pay the $7 per month to feed the SDTV - but you can if you want.

IF the SD tv does not absolutely require independent tuning, it could share one of two Joeys via the composite outputs (or with RF modulator if TV does not have composite inputs). Would save you $7.00 per.

get 2 hoppers, the joeys will need a tuner from one of them
if they will be used at the same time it could limit your recording ability

Well if you want the Whole Home DVR solution (sharing the DVR at each Tv) then you would go with Hopper/Joey. If you don't care about having access to the same DVR at each TV you can get a 722 to feed 1 HD and the SD set. Then you can get a 211 at the other HD TVs. You posted in the Hopper Zone but wanted to provide another option if you are new to Dish.

Downgrading 2 722 receivers

How are Dish's DVRs?
