if I wanted to have a spectrum analyzer either pc based or stand alone what specs do i need to be able to see pids, data rate, s/r etc?

I was looking at some of those hewlitt packard units that are about 10k (ouch)

If i do run onto one what does it have to have to be able to tell the difference between dvb s , dvb s2, etc.

please let me know what the best way to go about.

I'm only familiar with the Broadlogic Spectrum Analyzer. I have no experience with stand alone units. Neither will show you pids, data rates or exact SR's. Nor will they show whether the signals are DVB, DVB-S2 or DC2 etc. The BLSA is the cheapest way to go. But you will have to build part of it yourself or find someone to make it for you.

they have them on ebay from time to time but maybe someone here will post ( and i know its in another thread with a name something like BLSA) because it envolves more equipment to hunt the SR
