Quark express like app for free

Do any of you know if a quark express like app exists for the mac?I can run unix on my mac I have x11 and it alows me to run opensource apps.I just need to know if there is an opensource program I can run that is something like quarkexpress.I need to make a project really fast and can't allow myself to spent the money for quarkexpress right now.

If you can find a way to qualify for student pricing (i.e. in school or have a kid in school k-12 or college), Adobe InDesign is a similar product that you can get at a huge discount. It is not free but it is inexpensive. I think Adobe has a free 30 day trial.
