Whoowhee, this is a bit of reading. I hope someone can help me out and let me know if what I'm describing below is correct behavior for this receiver or if I'm totally missing something.
I own a QS1080IR and had it slaved to a Traxis 3500 which took care of moving the dish around, the polarity, and 22KHz switching. I'm using the BSC621 LNBf which is connected with one cable to the Traxis. This LNBf, when used with one cable in between itself and the receiver, requires 22KHz switching to be able to switch from C to Ku.
Was doing some rearranging/experimenting/typical weekend messing around and wanted to try using the Quali-TV as the sole receiver for the weekend. I already have about 38 sat positions stored into the VboxII (which is moving the dish around). This being said, I just connected the Quali-TV directly to the Vbox and the Vbox of course was still connected to the LNBf on the dish.
(To make this explanation easier, I just used postion numbers starting at #1 rather than what their actual postions are in the Vbox.)
Now, going into the installation/channel scan menu of the Quali-TV, I have it setup for diseqc 1.2. I setup postion #1 to be G10R Ku, LOF 10750, and 22KHz ON (22KHz needs to be ON for the LNBf to switch to Ku). Entered in the two big Equity TP's and scanned the sat. Got channels.
Next, I setup postion #2 to be G10R/C (had to use one of the stock names). LOF 5150, 22KHz OFF. Entered the TP info for The Outdoor Channel mux. Scanned, got channels, watched some outdoor channel HD.
Setup position #3 as Anik F2, 5150, 22KHz OFF, punched in TP info for Movie Central HD, scanned, got channel, watched.
Now, the problem. I was on AnikF2, and I pushed the red button on the remote which scrolls you through a list of satellites that you have channels on. I picked G10R Ku, the dish moved back into position just fine, but no picture or sound. The "quality" meter was not giving me anything. Pushed the red button again and went to G10R C band, back to the outdoor channel. Perfect! All of the channels in that mux were there and the quality meter was pegged. Went back to the Ku side and nothing.
Went back to scan in channels once more for G10R Ku and noticed that the 22KHz was OFF. Changed it to ON and scanned channels again, everything was fine....until I went back to a C band channel. Thought I needed to scan in the channels again because the TP's that I entered previously kept disappearing. Went to scan in the C band side again and noticed that 22KHz was ON when it should be OFF. Now I see what is going on.
I can go from a C band channel to a C band channel, or from a Ku to a Ku, but can't go from a C to a Ku because apparently the 22KHz status (on or off) is not stored with the position number in the receiver. It is always on or always off.
I said all of that to ask if anyone else with one of these receivers can tell me if I'm just doing something completely wrong, or if this is the way it really works.
