QPSK receivers will go dark Feb. 10

All QPSK receivers will go dark as of Feb. 10th. Here are the receivers being affected.

301, 501, 508, 510, 1000, 1500, 2700, 2710, 2712, 2812, 2800, 3000, 3100, 3120, 3200, 3500, 3700, 3722, 3750, 3800, 3822, 3900, 3922, 4000, 4100, 4500, 4700, 4722, 4900 and 4922.

Thanks for posting! I remember a while back that Scott said that a handful of transponders and channels were going to be QPSK for seasonal accounts but no time was given for when those last transponders would be converted. I guess we have a final date on when the 8PSK conversion will be completely done!

IMHO, they should go all MPEG4 and be done with it.

I remember the 4700, later upgraded to 4900 with a software update which had some kind of interactive content or something up on the screen. It has the UHF capability.

I thought the legacy 4 digit model numbered receivers were already disabled.

So I take it that the sw legacy switches are also no longer good with a basic receiver such as a 311 if you choose to use them in any dish setup?

I'm kinda sad, I paid my way through college installing those receivers. I guess they retired the 2000 already! I'm surprised to see the 3000/4000 on that list, I thought they retired those years ago.

I'm trying to remember the special they were running when I started, if you paid for a year of service upfront you got two months free? Back then it was the top 40 and 60! The advertisement was a guy holding a TV while wearing a spacesuit with all the channel logos pasted to him, and a dish antenna on his head!

WOW, looks ancient, way before my time. I started out on 722s in 2007.

They were around when Dish started back in 96
It didnt even have timers on it (the 4000 did...that also added a UHF antenna)

I owned the 5000 which had a OTA (NTSC) tuner in it and had guide info....but only Prime Time events on ABC, CBS, NBC only
