Ps3 hard to develop for, will developers back out?

Seems as though MAYBE, MAYBE THQ is backing out of releasing Smackdown vs Raw for the PS3, could this be the beginning of things to come? or is it just because Sony dosent have the final specs ready and THQ wants to release this game

Smackdown 07' a 360 Next Gen exclusive

Hey guys. For all you wrestling game fans out there, IGN.com reports that Smackdown vs. RAW 07' has been cancelled for PS3. XBOX 360 will be the only Next-Gen home of this hotly anticipated title!

I figure its just a timing issue, like you speculate, although the game isn't due stateside till November.

I doubt it but you may see less games or games that look exactly like the 360 version. I'm paraphrasing here, but I remember during E3 there was an interview on G4 with a guy from ID I think maybe it was someother company but I cant remember anyway. He was talking about while the PS3 theoretically has more horsepower then the 360 that the amount of extra work it would take to take advantage of it was almost not worth it from a time and money standpoint. He specifically mentioned how MS made it so easy to program for the 360 all the processors could be be programmed the same way vs the PS3 where one processor had to do things this way another had to do it another and so on.

From this interview I think you will see titles from Sony and also exclusive titles for the PS3 that will use the hardware to its fullest, but I think you going to see cross platform games that do not look any better then the 360.


Or THQ just doesnt want the game to suck ass like Madden 06 for the 360 did because they rushed it.

Less exclusivity across the board as development prices continue to soar......I just don't think THQ has enough time to work with the PS3 hardware to get Smackdown ready on it until next year. I DO expect the 360 version to be polished, though.

Cell *may* have more theoretical power but it's very awkward to use and 360's graphics chip is far superior to that of PS3... overall 360 has better chance to attract more developers and by time to have better game lineup.
We will see...

With all that said though, I doubt PS3 wills suffer with developers. There are plenty of 360 ports that will also be released for the PS3! So fear not Sony fanboys, maybe you guys can have our table scraps for a change. I'm still hurting about how Xbox 1's third party games were mostly ps2 ports. The first Xbox proved that raw power doesn't win "console wars", so I wonder why everyone is still so hung up on who has the "most powerful console"? Who cares? I just want fun games on all the platforms.
