Have a massive amount of missing guide information on my ViP 722. (subbed to HD Absolute - from 61.5/110/119) My wife noticed that our dvr schedule was filled with a LOT of "No Info Available" programs set. Will it reset over night tonight, or do I have a more serious problem.

Did it get new software today? I've found that sometimes after a reboot, it takes from several hours to overnight for the guide data to fill in. I don't know why they don't cache it on disk. But I also don't know why this problem doesn't occur with every reboot.

Thanks for the help, I actually tried rebooting. It came back on with even less data. So, I held right in the guide and it popped up a dialog box that the guide info was out of date, did I want to get the new information off of the satellite. I said that I did and 5 minutes later the guide was refilled.

Is this a new feature, I didn't think it would work that fast...

No, not a new feature. If the guide is "out of date" or otherwise impaired, if you go into the future of the guide--say pressing skip forward for the next day or beyond, the option to download the latest guide info pops up on just about all the Dish STB's and has been the case for years.

However, if that doesn't work, or if rebooting doesn't work--and sometimes they don't--go into the preferences menu and setup your "Daily Updates" feature to run just a minuet or two from the current, meaning real-life time of the moment in which you are in existence :), and wait just for that 1 or 2 minutes, and the STB will go through the "Daily Updates" routine and the guide will be refreshed. Of course, when that is done, go back and reset your "Daily Updates" time back to a time that won't disturb your TV watching.

Weird. I can't say I've ever seen that. Usually when I have no guide data, it just won't let me scroll more than a few hours ahead. Unless I have data for some channels and not others, in which case sometimes it fills in the missing ones and sometimes it doesn't. But I've never had a popup asking me if want to download it.

Run a check switch and that should trigger a new download of all guide data after the satellite reacquire.

There have been only a few instances when what you have described has occurred. However I can tell you that over the years the prompt to update the guide has popped-up rather reliably on the following STB's of which I have had operating on my system over the years: 2700, 3900, 301, 322 (this box will automatically update the guide using the other unused tuner even if you are watching the other tuner), 222, 508, 721 (sometimes it would not refresh even after selecting "yes" to the prompt), 522, 625, 722.

List again:

2700, 3900, 508, 721, 301, 322, 522, 625, 222, 722
