On June 9 I got this email:
"You may have experienced a transmission glitch to your DIRECTV service [poster's note: I did have issues with the on-screen guide being all sorts of inaccurate]. DIRECTV has fixed the problem and automatically reset the receivers. There's nothing further that you need to do. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this technical issue has caused."
Ever since then, the lag in response on the on-screen guide has gotten worse and worse, sometimes several seconds in between "clicks".
Receiver resets have done no good. I haven't done the "resend signal" trick yet, though I can't see why that'd matter.
