Problems with Voom at 129 and HDMI on new 942

Hello all, I finally got my 942 today. On the first call, I said I wanted to add HD Pak and Voom and switch out my receivers. The CSR said he couldn't do the receivers, but that he would add the packages and transfer me to someone who could handle the switchout. The tech CSR ran me through some tests, where I accidentally let it slip I was using 129. She then asked if everything was coming in yet. I said I couldn't get Voom, otherwise everything was good. She said I needed a 61.5 dish for Voom. I had a job to get to, so I let it slide.

I called back a few hours later and asked to have Voom turned on. The CSR asked what kind of antenna I had. I said "Uh, I have an extra antenna, and I can see the Voom channels in my guide, but they're red." He put me on hold and asked me to check. I clicked on Rave, since it was first, and it popped right up. I thanked him and got off the phone.

Problem is, I'm only getting three channels...Rave, HD News, and GuyTV. They are all on transponder 9 and coming in perfectly. The other channels tell me to run a check switch. I did once, but all it did was make GuyTV tune in faster.

Looking at the dish point screen, I am getting 80 or higher on transponders 6, 9 and 10. I am NOT getting TP 12, which I understand has been a problem for some people. But I should be able to get everything except Animania and Equator. Instead, I get messages to run a check switch.

I can't really call for help, since the tech people still say 129 isn't available at all.

One other thing...after authorization, I lost my HDMI signal. It was just giving off black. (I know it was working, because the TV went to blue screen when I unplugged it, and back to black when I plugged it back in.) I did an unplug-reboot and some of the info screens came over HDMI, but no picture. But just now, I switched to 1080i and it came back. Then I switched back to 720p and it's still fine. (I have an LCD). BTW, I see the washed out colors on the menu screens and guide, but the actual picture looks the same as componant.

I had this problem before 281 software version. 281 fixed that problem. To restore picture just click: menu, 6, 8, left, left, up, rigt, right, enter. Picture will appear (I just memoriszed these clicks). Hopefully, overnight you will get the update. Althoug some user complain about audio problems, I find that HDMI fix more important for myself. But I had some strange audio problems. On Sunday I was recording there programs, and when was tring to watch Curb your Enthusiasm, I got audio from Grey's Anatomy. So I was force to watch first Grey's Anatomy (with commercials.), and later Curb your E...
Show was recorded OK. But that was strange bug. Again, I find HDMI fix worth that bug. :D

I have 281. It keeps doing it when I switch from a HD program to a SD program or vice-versa. I will just leave it on componant until another software revision.

Midnight update- still nothing. I tried checking both "Superdish" and "alternate" to get the extra 12 switch checks...nothing. I hooked 129 up direct and found I could get transponder 12. However, the receiver couldn't get the guide data and got caught in an endless reboot loop, so I couldn't tell if anything else was coming in.

BTW, I am using a legacy twin and legacy dual through two SW21s.

When I hooked the SW21s back up, I switched the cables so 129 was on side 1. I was then able to get a signal on TP12, but I hadn't run the switch check yet.

Now on 22 of 50...fingers crossed.

After switch check, no TP12 :(

Maybe Simon was right about legacy equipment not being worth dealing with...only not for the reasons he cited.

Is there anyone out there who uses this setup on a 942- Legacy Twin 500, Legacy Dual 300, 2x SW21s- to get Voom at 129? Maybe this just isn't supported by the switch checks yet. (I've heard there are other unstable combinations.)

I'll probably wait until the next software revision or official 129 announcment, then get some DP LNBs if it still won't work. Grrrrr.

I had this setup, before upgading to SuperDish + 61.5. Installer replaced it with DishPro stuff, and replaced 300 Dish with Dish 500 for 61.5. I guess, I can rotate 61.5 to 129, but there is no point for me now.
You can try to rotate 129 to 61.5. Maybe it can help?

Did he replace it because it didn't work? Or because you needed a superdish?

Why would you use a DISH 500 for 61.5?

If I could get 61.5, I wouldn't be messing around with this. Arizona + 80ft Ponderosas = no 61.5.

When I get home this afternoon, I'm going to try swaping out the Dual for another one- I have 2 more in the closet.

Has anyone ever heard of a SW switch blocking certain transponders?

Well, I swapped out my Legacy Dual for another one- same results. When I hook up 129 direct, I can see TP 12 on the point dish screen. And when I hook up the SW21s, I can STILL see TP 12. But it vanishes after I run the switch check. And I still get caught in a reboot loop if I leave it hooked to 129 only.

I am now running the switch checks without checking off Superdish or Alternate...I was led to belive I need to check both. The checks are running much faster now...fingers crossed.
