Okay, I am a certified installer but I am having some problems with a customer's 311's. They are remans because thats all our corporate retailer will send us, anyways here's what's happening. The 311's will show a picture and then go black, they will have sound, but come back on searching for satellite signal. It is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me. So I replaced one of the 311's and it went to working fine until later, when I installed it I ran all brand new cable swept to 3.0ghz, it's the copper clad RG6 from perfect vision. It's a brand new dish with a brand new quad LNB. I don't know what the problem is whether it is software, hardware, or what. I would like to know what you guys think, because at this point I am stumped!

Greetings!
Not that it will help you, but I still have 2 311's which will randomly appear "dead" when I turn them on. They will go for weeks on end w/o an issue, but when i turn them on, the info banner is all that I get... no pix, no sound until I reboot them. They've been realatively reliable until about a year ago & they both started doing this @ the same time, so I'm thinking it was one of the software updates... no harm, no foul... it's annoying, but they are in my computer room & bedroom, so not watched every day...

Well the thing is, these are in everyday use rooms. I hate to replace the receivers unless I absolutely have to. I'm thinking this is a ground block or an LNB issue.

Okay, this is unbelievable but I think I got it fixed, the customer had a leapfrog system hooked up. I believe it was back feeding into the LNB, causing it to get hot. Well I unhooked the leapfrog system and the two main receivers came back on and worked fine! So I don't know if that was the problem but it is working for now. I'll keep you guys updated!
