eastern shore
I have an Extreme View EV3300 I was trying to setup to my other TV.

Every time I connect the Coax from my Dish to the back of the unit either it
won't turn on at all or the display (if its already on) wil flash and there is
no response from the box to the remote or even the buttons on the front.

The cable is coming directly form a DP500 dish with dual LNB and there is no switch in volved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You won't pick up much with it hooked up to a dishnetwork dish. For legal free-to-air you need a bigger dish, 30" or bigger with a linear lnbf. What channels are you trying to get?

Just whatever I can get along the East coast.

I have an antenna I use normally, but figured I could
prevent the need for a digital box if I used the dishes that
were already on the house and tried to get
some Sat channells.

My main issue is the fact the box won't work right.

What could cause the issue I described earlier?

power hog ?

Assuming there is no defective equipment involved, and no short in the cable, I'd say the LNB is drawing more power than the receiver is rated for.
Depends on the model - those things are meant to be powered by a Dish receiver, and the more recent ones are real power hogs.

On the other hand, a typical linear (FSS) LNB for real FTA use, might pull 100 - 150ma.
That and a 36" dish will give you access to any of the true FTA satellites.

You won't be able to get your digital over the air channels thru that dish, even if they are on dishnetwork they would be scrambled. If you already have one of those digital converter boxes, what you need is some type of outdoor over the air antenna. Or if you're close to the stations you might get away with a smaller indoor antenna. I hope I understood the question! If you had the right dish and lnbf and pointed to 123 you could get a couple of the networks off that satellite, but no cbs or nbc channels.
