problem with coolsat 8000

My main goal here is to set this thing up for proper FTA channels...anyway, I hooked all up and I am getting the picture of the world BUT cannot get into the menu...No matter what I do it just stays on the picture...I try the remote and the buttons on the front........nothing, seems like its locked up..

Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!! Jeff in san jose

try disconecting everything except regular RCA yellow video cable and power down/up again. wait until the clock shows the date and time (01:01:2001 00:00 or similar). sometimes this boxes they lock up and you have to reset them. sometimes i have to power down/up up to 2 or 3 times specially when I play with the switch outside with the box on.

with the CS 8100 the secuence is.

Shows Hello on the box little screen (VFD)
Then it shows Loader 1.09 for a few seconds.
Then it clears the screen and shows the firmware version briefly
then it finally shows the date / time so you can then power up. try using the power button on the front of the unit just in case.

Hope it helps. Be patient sometimes it takes a lot of time to go from the Loader screen to the final clock.
