Hello everyone

I've been installing motors in my backyard for a couple of years and it always worked fine. I have always been able to get from 61 to 129 degrees (trees were blocking everything below 61).

I decided to place a new 16 foot post in the middle of the backyard to be able to get up to T12 at 15 degrees. (I did a site survey first).

I'm using an hh-120 motor.

I'm able to still get everything from 61 to 129, however if I try to get PAS3 at 43 degrees or T12 at 15 degrees, it doesn't work. I have to lower the dish and move a little bit below 61 degrees.

Now for it to work my motor elevation should be at 47 degrees (I'm at 47 lat 71.7 long). However if I want it to work from 61 to 129 I have to put it at 50 degrees.

My motor is really at true south (easy to adjust with amc6).

The thing I don't understand is : if the arc is ok from 61 to 129, how can it be wrong at 43 and 15 (and a big difference).

Honestly I'm not sure where to go from here. I check with a level and the post seems plumbed.

Any idea, or should I give up and be happy with what I have?

Best regards

the only thing i can think of is maybe the dish is slightly warped, have you tried another. As the motor rotates the dish it turns the whole dish/plus skewing it.
this would just be my guess.

Also you could build a adjustable elevation motor and add it to the mounting bracket. seen a homemade bracket for a primestar that had a piece of threadall on it to secure it (strengthen the bottom support) this could be converted to work like a worm-gear type thing.

I didn't know the HH120 went that far. I was under the impression the useable range was +/- 50 degrees from true south.

My TS is AMC-5 and in order for me to reliably get G10R I need to diseqc it a notch beyond where USALS stops the motor. My mast too is plumb all around.

I rarely get any signals from PAS 3 @ 43.0w. however, I always get something on Hispasat at 30.0w. Give it a try and see. You may not be able to get 12.0w with an HH120. I'm at 83.0w and can get just a little past Hispasat @ 30.0w with my STAB HH 120. I think it's rated for 55 degrees in either direction, that's with USALS, I'm sure. You may get farther from there with 1.2 diseqc commands.
