Hi All,
I set up a Dish 500 for a client using 2 existing RG-6 lines that run about 220 ft. I've run the check-switch on all 8 receivers several times. (Two cascaded multi-switches) Signal has been locked in and channels are being received. The problem is that the receivers lose signal at some point and go to a grey screen or search for satellite screen.
In the world of DirecTV, I would suspect the length of run from the dish being to long and insert an amp. The switches, not being powered in this case, probably cut the signal down so that it drops away from the 115 reading the meter shows. I am heading back to this job on monday so any input you guys have would increase my chances of nailing the problem. My 2nd hunch is the wire and connectors from the dish down since I didn't install those.
I never had to deal with this check switch stuff with Directv, so I'm trying to understand that difference and be sure it's not another issue that relates to Dish Network specifically. In other words, you might tell me, 'Oh, just hit the power switch while you hold the arrow key and that will do it'. (yeah sure )
Thanks for any suggestions
