What's going to give me the most bang for my buck...a 40x30 primestar dish with the primestar lnb, or an upgrade of my current .6db lnb with a invacom .3 lnb attached to my existing 30" dish?

Currently on G10R I get an average of about 35 quality on the US Virgin Islands channels. That can be a problem on Sundays...I'd like to see that up as high as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

As a general rule a larger dish is usually better. This is because not only does a larger dish provide more gain and thus stronger signals but also will have a narrower beamwidth and thus reject interference from adjacent satellites much better. Of course the best solution would be to have both a bigger dish and a better LNB, but if you have to choose then a bigger dish is probably better.

One other thing to consider is local oscillator stability of an lnb. For signals with low symbol rates this may be even more important than noise figure. If I recall correctly I don't think the LO stability figures invacom lists for thier LNBs are all that impressive. I don't know the LO stability rating of the primestar LNBs. So, I can't really say for certain how the 2 compare in this regard.

The quality on the station above seems low...On the Pansat with a 30" and a .3, I can get a 60+
