Primestar Receiver

Will a Primestar Receiver work for FTA? The primestar dish I'm going to get tomorrow includes the receiver.

Primestar receiver was Digicipher I decoding, the predecessor to what 4DTV uses (DCII)

so it won't work at all

It used to pick up one foreign channel but I am guessing that has not been the case for a while now.

I wonder if any parts in those receivers would ever be of any good in the future for anything.

Unfortunately, no "better half" here

As for parts being useful, I'm not sure, but the remote *might* work with some of the newer DCII receivers.
