I just spoke with customer retention at Directv and they offered my the HDTivo for $599. Told them I was considering moving to Dish and the CSR told me they were dropping the price to $749 on tues and that if I called back then, she would chop off another $150.

Not exactly sure how they sell them directly (I didnt know they did that), but I will be calling back on tues.

The price on Tues. will be 699 @ D*...Best buy ad also shows this price eff Tues.

Just passing along what the chick at D* told me. She said she the had it for $749 and it would be able to give me a price break that would make it $599. And it wasnt breaks in programming prices and the like, it was for the HD Tivo.

If she was full of sheat, I will know on Tues.

I just put up a advance order link on our forum page. Unfortunately DIRECTV took away most of the profit when they lowered the price. Please go to the site to see the price as DIRECTV does not permit it's dealers to sell below the $699.99 MAP.

You will need to click through to the shopping cart to see the special forum price.

Actually I noticed a month ago that the bottom line price was a little lower if I followed the links for VE through AVS with the free shipping. The price for satguys had shipping charges.

Speaking of access cards - I have a SONY HD Receiver now but am considering a HD-Tivo from VE. Will I have to pay for an additional receiver from D-tv or does that HD-Tivo just replace my SONY (thus allowing me to sell it)?
