47-INCH 1080p HDTV LEADS LG’s LCD LINEUP AT CEDIA EXPO 2006
Company Pushes Industry Size Standard with Multiple 42-inch LCD HDTVs
DENVER, Sept. 14, 2006 — LG Electronics today showcased its wide array of high-definition liquid crystal display (LCD) solutions, reaffirming its commitment of bringing the benefits of LCD HDTV technology to the custom installation market.
Shown at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) EXPO 2006 (booth #258) this week, LG’s LCD lineup includes its new 47-inch 1080p LCD as well as multiple 42-inch LCDs, most notably the industry’s first LCD with a built-in high-definition digital video recorder (HD-DVR).
“With the availability of the 1080p 47-inch LCD HDTV and our 42-inch LCD HDTVs with a built-in HD-DVR, professional installers have unique, large LCD-screen options when specifying products for their home theater customers,” said Robert A. Perry, vice president, consumer electronics sales and channel marketing, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “By driving integration and ease-of-use, LG’s LCD line exemplifies our commitment to providing innovative and functional solutions for the custom installation market.”
Complete High-Definition Performance
Demonstrating LG’s ongoing dedication to product innovation, the new 47-inch Digital Cable Ready LCD HDTV (model 47LB1DA) features the progressive-scan, full high-definition 1920 x 1080p display format, the highest HDTV display capability on the market, providing consumers with the most lifelike images. The 47LB1DA features a 14-bit color processor and the latest generation of LG’s XD Engine™ to ensure accurate color reproduction and the best possible picture, even from analog sources.
Featuring LG’s fifth-generation “VSB” chipset for optimal digital TV broadcast reception, this 47-inch LCD HDTV is equipped with ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners and is CableCard compatible. Other convenience features include TV Guide On-Screen® electronic program guide, multiple HD inputs, including two HDMI inputs with HDCP, and a swivel stand. The unit is also VESA compatible for convenient installation. The 47LB1DA is now available with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $3,999.
Also delivering 1080p display capability is LG’s 55-inch widescreen LCD HDTV, model 55LP1M, also available now at and MSRP of $10,399.
Setting the Standard in Size
As the leading provider of 42-inch widescreen LCD HDTVs in the United States, LG Electronics is super-sizing the large-screen LCD category. The LG standard of 42-diagonal inches is establishing a new benchmark versus the preponderance of 40-inch LCD models on the market. While only two inches more when measured diagonally, the larger screen size translates into 12 percent in added viewing area– further enhancing the entertainment experience that LG delivers.
LG’s flagship 42-inch model is its LCD integrated HDTV with built-in HD-DVR (42LB1DRA). The world’s first LCD TV to incorporate this technology, the 42LB1DRA stores up to 15 hours of digital high-definition programs or 66 hours of standard-definition programming. It is Digital Cable Ready (CableCARD-capable), with the ability to access cable channels, including HD channels, without a separate cable box.
Users are able to control live TV, easily organize recorded programs and set up repeat recordings of their favorite show with the latest Gemstar Digital TV Guide On-Screen® interactive program guide. The combination of the built-in DVR with its CableCARD compatibility eliminates the need for two set-top boxes and the associated issues of setup and wiring, and unnecessary hassle. The unit incorporates Super In-Plane-Switching (Super IPS) technology, allowing for 178-degree viewing angles without loss of color or image.
Available now, it has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $2,599. Other LG Electronics 42-inch LCD HDTVs on display at CEDIA Expo 2006 are models 42LB1DR, also with built-in DVR and the best-selling 42LC2D, both available now with manufacturer’s suggested retail prices of $2,499 and $2,099, respectively.
Wide Array of Sizes for Any Custom Installation
Providing a wide array of sizes for bedroom-, bathroom- and kitchen-installations, LG also offers 37-, 32- and 26-inch widescreen LCD integrated HDTVs including the popular LC2 series, recipient of the prestigious “Red Dot” international award for excellence in design.
Like all new integrated HDTVs from LG, these models incorporate LG’s fifth-generation digital television chipset for unparalleled reception performance from its built-in NTSC/ATSC/Clear QAM tuner.
Additionally, LG’s exclusive XD EngineTM technology takes low-resolution analog signals to near high-definition levels, providing consumers with better overall picture quality and viewing experience. Six distinct processes help improve brightness, enhance detail, and deliver more accurate color and noise reduction with film-like high-resolution.
Prices for these popular mid-sized LCD HDTVs range from $999 for 26-inch models to $1,799 for 37-inch sets.
