I don't mind advertisements, in fact I often find them interesting, but these constant Obama advs are really quite annoying. Politics really doesn't belong on a tech forum. Just my 2 cents. No offense intended, I'd say the same if it were McCain advs. :)

Kinda agree, even as a democrat. You filter out the other ads that are against forum rules, and someone would get an 'infraction' if they had one of these ads in their sig and avatar.

Can someone grab a screenshot of these ads? Sounds like one is sneaking in and I want to send it to the ad agency to get it turned off.

What ads? I'm a pub member. Almost no ads.

I hate politics.

I've counted at least four different ones running, all signed "Paid for by the DNC". If I can I'll try to capture a screen.

WOW, what are the odds, not 1 minute after I posted the reply above one popped up. I have a screen capture of it. Where can I send it?

shoot it to either Scott or myself

Scott's e-mail is his first name @ this site
Mine is my name @ this site

Scott I've seen a big one when I log in from work. It gives me the guest page and the top 1/4 shows something like
"in Colorado you have to register by Oct 6 to vote"

or another one for Obama...cant remember what it says but at work they have the print screen option disabled so I cant screen shot it

On it's way to you.

I get a similar one here about registering to vote in Pennsylvania by Oct 6th.

I just went through all the syndicated ads, there is one (that has a series of Obama ads) however it is turned off. Please send me a screen shot so I can send it to the ad company.

It least it's just political. Our corporate IT had to block the website for a newspaper in the NW Indiana region because they had viral advertising. Literally. People were picking up Trojan Downloaders when they visited their site which were caught by our corporate AV package.

I found the culprit and I am not happy about it.

The ad network Chitika is the one putting up these ads. Chitika is just supposed to show items for sales on common items that SatelliteGuys members would use, in addition it shows a search box which shows you the lowest price on that item.

It is NOT supposed to show any other ads and they are the ones putting up the Obama ads.

I just fired off a nasty email to Chitika and will be removing all of their ad code from our site today.

Below is what Chitika ads are supposed to look like. And those type of ads are all we are signed up for to serve from Chitika. They are inserting the Obama ads on their own. :(
