Pole Mount for Large Dish

This is a "shoot the breeze" kind of thread. I put up a pole for a dish. Since I'm out of work, I havent bought a dish yet. I was originally going to put up a Winegard 2076. After reading a few posts, I'm thinking about going larger.
The post is a 2" galvanized water pipe about 40 inches in the ground. It is in concrete and the pipe is backfilled with concrete. It is 6 feet above ground.
My concern is if this pipe would support a large dish. The 2076 weighs about
10 lbs the 90cm Fortec Star weighs about 20, and the Winegard 3100 weighs about 24 lbs. If the post was lower it wouldnt be a problem but the 6 feet has me worried. The pole has some shimmy at the top but no movemnt on the bottom. Im wondering if wind would be a problem with the larger dish. The pole has to be this tall, I cant lower it. Ive never put up anything except C-band and Dishnetwork so maybe some of you experienced installers can offer some opinions.

I have a 2" pole. I hope you'll be all right with yours. Mine originally had an 80cm dish on it, which worked fine. Now I have a 1.2m dish on it, I use for experimental purposes. When the wind picks up, it will sometimes move the dish off it's axis. The clamps for the larger dish are to big (I think) for this size pole. Maybe you'll have better luck than I do with mine. Fortunately for me, the wind doesn't get out of hand very often, and it's not my main dish, so it's no big deal. I have another 1.2m dish on a 2+3/8th" pole. I don't have any issues with it. The clamps fit better. Good Luck!

Maybe I should add that it is 2" galvanized Water pipe with an O.D. of
2+ 3/8"

I think you are ok with that pole. As you were thinking, the weight is the primary concern, as well as the wind load.

I have a 6 foot Cband dish (without the polar mount - its mounted with an old Pstar mount) on a 2-3/8" fence post about 5' out of the ground and it's fine. Been through a few high-wind storms and never bothered it a bit.
Of course a solid dish would present more of a windload, but I think you will be ok, especially if you filled the pipe with concrete.

Looks good to me, I have hung a 1.2 meter dish on 4' X 2" steel pipe without a problem.
If you were to clamp the weather head conduit (that I see in the picture) to it with some large SS hose clamps it would help with any flexing you might have. Hope you can get a dish soon!:

Should be fine for a Ku dish .

Where are you at , since you are out of work , if there are any FRA'ers near , someone might donate a dish ?

Also , keep your eyes pealed , be supprised what you can scrounge .

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I will try for a 1 meter dish. Its the height that has me worried.
Acutally I found a Winegard 2076 real cheap from a local supplier, but I wanted to go larger.
Im close to St. Louis, MO. I have the money for the FTA setup, its just that I hate to spend it without
a steady income right now. But it will all change if the Union decides to go back to work.

I had my 5' BUD on a 2" schedule 40 pole like that. Originally I had it 7' out of the ground and that was VERY flimsey.

Later I cut the pole down to about 4' above ground and it worked out pretty well. It moved in the wind but it didn't seem to effect reception on the baby-bud. This is the only pic I can find right off hand:

I have 2 motor setups on chain link fence corner posts.....

both work fine. That setup you have there is 10x more stable than what I have.

Hang it low on the pole. Stick a 18inch or something on the top for radio on 119. And twice the number of cable runs you'll think to ever use. I have 3 running out to my pole and wish I would have ran 4.
