Does anyone have any experience playing through a PC? I am getting a 32 inch monitor that I want to turn into a PC/TV. Can anyone recommend a good PC receiver that will play HD Directv? Links and personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can use a PC as a DirecTV HD receiver.
You can use a PC to play back recorded HD streams (not encrypted).
You can still make a PC work as a Dish HD receiver - but that's illegal.
HTPCs with a DVB tuner card can receive FTA HD, record them and play back.

Unlike in Europe, where a PC can legitemately be used as a satellite receiver using the
CAM module with a DVB card, this was never an option in North America. And likely will never be.

Diogen.

Thanks for the reply. I may have to look into playback and record. These forums are definately a good place to start in learning how to do more then just watch TV. I will let you all know what I find and what I think.

SD or Analog tuner?
