Could someone explain the reason for transporting plasmas upright instead of flat? I think I know why, but I have to explain it to a know-it-all college student. (We were all one once, right?)

If it is laying flat and you go over a bump you put more stress on the large sheet of glass which is not supported in the middle of the screen and you run the risk of cracking it.

It is the same theory as having a 1x6 board, vertical strength is stronger when it is turned to have 6" high vs turned to 1" high. It is unlikely you are going to have a great horizontal movement when driving the TV around (unless someone crashes into you from the side).

Sanyo Plasma TV's

Yeah I know NOTHING about projectors
