Plasma TV sales enjoyed a significant unit and dollar sales increase in the second quarter, according to Quixel Research.
Leading the way were sales of 42-inch 720p plasma TVs, which were up 40 percent quarter over quarter.
However, in the LCD TV market, smaller display sizes outperformed their larger cousins

I believe that.

The last several months have been good to plasma, with a increased visibility for the Panasonic plasmas. They also did something to make them really stand out against the LCDs in your typical big box. I have watched as even the most casual consumer notices the better quality. It doesn't hurt that they are price competitive as well.

With the economy, Plasma rises up. Not that it should matter. Have yet to see an LCD match the natural film quality plasma passes.

+1. Best bang for buck... You'd have to pay at least twice as much for an LCD in the same size to approach the PQ of an entry level major brand 720p plasma. If they were presented properly by the Big Boxes, they would dominate the market, especially in this economy. (OK, I guess they sort of are based on the OP)

Ill take my Panny plasma any day. Ill admit the cheaper plasmas and older ones have a sub par look, but my 08 1080p looks great. Even Gregg Loewen has commented on the blacks and how he likes the Pannys for the price.

I wont argue about LCDs looking good too, but you gotta give credit where its due and not classify the whole group. There are some $***ty looking LCDs out there too.
