Hey Folks,

Thanks for the help in the two threads in which I asked.

I placed the order, got lots of discounts. We will see what the first bill looks like. Used referral from a staff guy here. They put HR23 on the ticket but we know how that goes, huh? One rep said the HR23 is what they are installing now. I mentioned twice that dish lets one select the receiver they want and upgrade to the newer model.

First rep apparently did not know about the $23 rebate for a year so I mentioned that. He did have to go back and forth to a supervisor. Second rep was cool, she took the referral and noted the HR23. Forgot the AM21 and called back. First rep that time did not apparently understand and sent me to tech support. Tech support sent me to a different rep and she was good and noted that I want an AM21. She knew the model number so I felt better.

Definately some customer service issues at D*. I did mention to all my concern over the bad installs. I told them I am a consultant, paid by the hour and cannot have resched's, etc.

Thanks again and you folks have a fun eve,
Robert;-)

Man hope they bring you the hr23 but as any tech will tell you. I'm supprised the d rep didn't mention it. they cannot guarantee which reciever you will get.but if ya really wanted the hr23 you can go get it at the your local chain electronics place.

I have no clue why they say that, I have 4 HR20's on my Truck atm and havnt seen a HR23 in a month.

They didn't mention because I told them I knew it.

No chains in Houston have it or online that I could find. You know any retailer with it? Not interested in smaller dealers as they go out of business more often than the big chains. And the big chains are going by the wayside as well.

Yeah really burns me up too d says some things especially the csr's that really kill installs for me.they tell customers what ever they want to hear just to make the sale. Were installing hr22's and hr23's right now and what a pain in the you know what they are to set up with the new software in them already.
but yeah there is really no way to determine what reciever you are going to get no matter what the d rep told ya.

Just a heed of warning.. with you having an install in the works the work order will have your receivers as Tech Delivers New (Meaning they come from his available inventory). So if he shows up and you have boxes sitting there to install... when he changes the work order to show Customer Equipment, it could be as much as $80 a receiver to install. There is absolutely nothing you would be able to do about the charges, Techs and Install Companies cannot offer discounts that a D* Sales Rep can. I see this a lot.. and all it does is piss people off and I am the bad guy becuase now it seems *I* am charging you money trying to get one over on you.. just a warning take it as you will.

So unless your willing to toss away all the discounts and so forth you got to guarantee you get a HR22/23 do not buy it from a retailer prior to your install. You can always turn the tech away if he does not have what you want.

i know bbuy carries them and ccity but you may not want to go there since they are going bankrupt. radioshack used to carrie dtv but not really sure anymore.

Yeah, Circuit City is out of the running and the BestBuy website shows the 22 not the 23.

Guess I will take what he has and beg 'em for a 23.

Thanks anyway:)

yeah just ask em what he has if i was your installer and if thats what ya wanted and if i had one i'd have no problem givin ya one but i can only say that for myself. but ask him right away before the install even begins he may be able to call someone at the warehouse for ya and see if they even have any. but as installers we have no idea which ones were are going to get we just get what dtv sends to us.

here is an even better idea find out which hsp is going to do the install and give them a call and see if they have em in the warehouse and see if the guy can bring ya one for that day.
but call em the day before you are scheduled for the install. dtv can tell ya which company is going to do the install and give you there number.

Good ideas, I will try that in the morning as the install is scheduled for Friday AM. Was surprised at that. Must not be any new customers signing up in my area.

'Preciate that much:)

Called DirecTV for the hsp number and the csr told me it was Directech Southwest but she did not have the number. Got to a "Resolution Specialist" when I asked for a supervisor. He did not have the number but put me on hold, came back with info I already knew and did finally look up the number. Gave me an 866 number but I found the local number. I pushed 4 for the warehouse and the man said that had some HR23's last week but do not now. He said the installer may have one on his truck when he comes.

Again DirecTV has customer service issues! The reports about Directech Southwest are uniformly bad. Might have to wear my Glock 40 cal <g> I did tell the Resolution Specialist that dish lets you pick the reciever and the ship it to your residence.

Y'all be cool,
Robert

It has NEVER been a policy of D* to guarantee you which model you get as the only difference is models is HDD size and not function. Now E* boxes vary in function greatly between models, which is why they offer different solutions. It is hardly a CS issue that they wont guarantee the model number they have. If the Warehouse has HRxx come in today that still doesn't mean that Tech Y will have them. He could have inventory from 14 days ago. If you want specific stuff you hav to acquire it on your on and pay full price for it and pay to have it installed.

Chances are with Directech that if you refuse the tech installing because he doesn't have a HR23 will probably mean he will just have the order canceled as customer refused install and you will have to start over. I have no clue why you have it in your mind after obviously reading numerous posts and even admitting yourself D* doesn't guarantee models that you insist that its a CS issue.

Good luck...

Why do you really care were you get them from? Once you pay the lease fee for the box Directv takes over all service calls and ownership of the device. Even if the store goes out of business Directv is the one that services the box not the retail store.

BTW Best Buy never shows what they really have for receivers. They show one model for all the HD DVR's that they stock. Same goes for the standard HD receivers. You need to go into the store or call to see if they really have a H23 or just H22's.

The main CS issue is the fact that several of the CSRs don't understand what I am saying and all of them have put me on hold for extended periods. Out of 3 calls I was transferred to the wrong dept. once and it would have been twice if I had not stopped them.

I disagree that because it is a stated policy then it is not a customer service issue. I have managed retail stores and am currently self employed so I am familiar with the concept. Many, if not most, of today's businesses do not seem to understand they work for the customer. The dish reciever selection is not all that different. HD with and without dvr and the same for SD. Maybe more models but some of that is probably new old stock. And as I have stated, one may call and upgrade to the latest model. Furthermore, the dish folks I have talked to are MUCH better trained and seemingly smarter.

Making apologies for DIRECTV benefits neither them nor the customers. They will only get better when enough people complain and/or cancel due to the poor service. As has been noted in the forums, they are losing customers due to botched installs.

Take it EZ,
Robert

Sounds to me you would be happier staying with Dish tbh

Nope, want Speed in HD and Dish is dragging their feet.

Also Leo Laporte should be coming to DIRECTV.

I want to return to DIRECTV and I want them to be better. Myself and others believe that to be reasonable.

Take it EZ,
Robert:)
