I picked up the POTC discs and the picture and sound are incredible. The effects and music come out of the rear speakers flawlessly and the picture is the best I've seen from any live action blu-ray disc to date (It seems that CGI based films such as polar express and open season will always have the best picture) I am still waiting for my Matrix set in HD but so far this is the best I have seen on either side.

I wasn't impressed with the way the first movie turned out. Sound was great though. I thought the second was done much better for video.

It's too bad I don't like any of the Pirates movies or I would probably pick up a copy. On a positive note, I picked-up Chicken Little yesterday for our little one and it looks awesome. We already own it on widescreen DVD and it's on two HD DVRs (StarzHD)...so my wife game me that "are you an idiot" when we came home from the store. Thank goodness for that $10 rebate.

I'd never seen Curse of the Black Pearl, and got a BD copy via Netflix. I'm not impressed at all. I thought the plot was silly and contrived. And I don't think the PQ is all that great; good, but not something I would grab as "reference material" to show off my system. I have previously rented the Dead Man's Chest on DVD and liked the story on that one better. Glad to hear it has better video quality, but sounds like still just a rental for me.

I thought the PQ was some of the best I've seen so far aside from animated films... that said the PQ on the Wild (which I bought for my daughter) was great... sad part is the movie may be the worst disney film I have ever seen. I would agree that the sequel was better looking but I think that was because it had more special effects and CGI than the original.
