Hoping someone has does this before and knows of a product because I haven't had any luck. The majority of installs we do here use the 1000.2 dish antenna and it has the ability to add a Winegard DS-1111 adapter to the back of it to piggyback an antenna on it. We use it a lot and it works great for us. Now, there was a short period of time where we had to use 1000.4 dish antennas and we have a customer with one that would like to put an antenna on it. We just assumed we would use the DS-1111 like we always use but when our installer went to put it on he found that it was not compatible.

Has anyone piggybacked an OTA antenna off a 1000.4 dish antenna?

Unless the customer is within LOS of the stations those clip-on antennas are not very helpful.

They were designed to fit smaller dishes.

Get a real antenna.

Unless they have a Hopper system the real antenna can be diplexed into the satellite feed cable.

I have a terk 44 clip on antenna on my 1000.4 sat dish on a pole and have had one since 2008. I used to diplex it on the same cables run to the house ,but when I got two hoppers I had to change it a bit. I also have a 1000.2 sat dish on a pole sitting right next to the 1000.4 dish. I have a 211k hooked up to the 1000.2 dish and it is diplexed in to the terk 44, clipped on the 1000.4 sat dish. I use the 211k ,not authorized , as my power source for the antenna. It works fine . But I couldn't use the same three cables on the 1000.4 dish run to the hopper for the antenna, because you can't diplex on a hopper for satellite and ota. You could still run the clip on antenna on the 1000.4 dish ,but you would need to run a separate cable from the clip on to another source like a 211k or another receiver, to power the clip on antenna ,if that is what you have.

I think this is what the OP was asking about:

Winegard DS-1111

The Terk clip-on antenna is TOTALLY useless. I took one look at one and said "no way." A Radio Shack salespuppy once told me it was the number one antenna ...

... for people to return, saying "this doesn't work worth a damn!" :D

The Winegard DS-1111 looks similar to an RV antenna. And my RV antenna works really well, pulling stations from 75 miles away when I was in remote northern Michigan last month.

Still prefer my home setup, though.

The picture above is what we normally use. I have tried the terk clip on antennas in the past and they are pure junk. We use Digitennas on that Winegard mount and it works awesome for us and allows us to avoid drilling any more holes in the roof.

We just told the customer his best option was to just put another mount next to the Dish and be done with it.

My Terk 44 has worked fine for me , and has for over 10 years. I am 25 miles or less from the broadcast antennas. I have one on my house and my parents house and both give us all the local channels in our area just fine. But as usual you experience may be different. For me it was the best $64.99 I have spent, since I didn't have to fool with putting up a big antenna and run a separate cable for ota. When I got the hoppers for my home, I used the second cable run I no longer needed from when we had Directv for a short while and used it for my ota .
